Kate Middleton and her husband William attended an official St. Patrick's Day event.

The event was the 1st Battalion Irish Guards' annual St. Patrick's Day Parade in Aldershot.

This was Kate's first appearance as Colonel of the regiment, succeeding Prince William.

William expressed his regret at leaving the role, but praised Kate for being a dedicated and loyal Colonel.

Kate attended the event in a teal custom Catherine Walker coat and matching hat.

Officers, guardsmen, and the Irish wolfhound regimental mascot all received traditional sprigs of shamrock from Kate.

The parade ended with a royal salute and march-past, with Kate saluting as the new Colonel.

The couple met with the Irish Guards Association, which is made up of former Irish Guards members.

William finished the visit with a pint of Guinness and Kate with a half pint.
