I have been asked many questions regarding Infrared Saunas. When consumers are thinking about purchasing a high ticket item, we tend to do some research. One of the most common questions I get is this: “How much will my electric bill go up?” I get it. We need to budget.
So guess what time it is? It’s MATH TIME again! Don’t worry. I’ll try to be easy. To calculate your sauna usage cost, you simply need to know the power consumption of your infrared sauna and the price per 1kWh you are charged from your utility provider.
For Example, looking at the specs for our Larissa infrared sauna model, In the features section, you can see it is around 1700W.
A 1000W electrical device consumes 1kWh electrical energy in one hour of operation. Therefore our Larissa Infrared Sauna model consumes 1.70 kWh for every hour of use. Let’s assume that you take an infrared sauna twice a week and heaters stay on approximately for 1 hour each time you use the sauna (sauna warm-up time plus sauna session time). If you pay $0.20 cent per 1kWh then the infrared sauna operation in one month should cost you: (for example)
For our Larissa 2-person infrared sauna:
1.70 kWh x 1 hour x 8 times/month x $0.20 = $2.72 (twice a week, 1 hour on each time)
Assuming Infrared Sauna usage of One hour per day:
1.70 kWh X 1 hour x 30 times/month x $0.20 = $10.20 (One hour usage every day for a month)
Of course, the factors are daily usage time and your cost per 1kWh (consult your electric bill).
So there you have it. That wasn’t so bad, now was it?
Remember, we here at Planet Sauna wish you many happy Sauna sessions!
